KAR KWEE is a luo word for “Place of Peace”. Name of this resort was inspired by my last born daughter “Akweh Jahawi Rowa” – a beautiful virtue in the person of my father.
KAR KWEE provides a break from the hustle and bustle of the urban life. It is designed to attract visitors to a place of romance, tranquility, connection to nature and a deep rooted connection to living a true Luo life.
Located within Migori county, 15 kilometers from Rongo town, the story behind this destination is even more amazing. Inspired by the gifting of my late father Akula Ka Rowa, the desire and prayer of my late mother Auudi Nyar Alwar and driven by the push from my loving wife Irene Nyar Tanga, the dream has come to life.
Built on a 3-acre parcel of land, the facility borrows from the Luo concepts of life and living, with a main house “Od Mikayi”, external kitchen — , the firstborn son’s house “Simba” and a gazebo “Sirindi” , a kraal “Kul” and an external 3 Legged stove “Kendo”, a granary “Dero” and a campfire location “Duol/Agola”
KAR KWEE is sorrounded by a clean water stream and over 10,000 trees. All designed with a mud concept and a mabati rooftop that allows for the beautiful sound of the rain deep in your sleep.
We work with the local community primarily to empower them and in the spirit of giving. This is in honor of my late father whose selfless approach to life was phenomenal.
We also endeavor to be environmental friendly, developing and deploying solutions that ensure zero tolerance to environmental degradation for the sake of the upcoming generation and hopefully provide a platform for creating and disseminating new knowledge in this part of the world.
